When Wix or Squarespace is the better pick
- You enjoy building it yourself and have the time to write pages and size photos.
- You want an online store, a booking system or features ObraUp doesn't offer.
- Your business isn't one of the nine trades ObraUp designs for, or isn't in California.
- You want to change anything, any time, including the layout.
When ObraUp is the better pick
- You'd rather spend your time on jobs. We set the site up from the details and photos you send.
- You want a design made for your trade. Every design was built for one trade, with the features homeowners in that trade look for, like a before and after slider for painters or an inspection request for roofers.
- You want your license handled. We read your classification from public California license data and show your license number where homeowners look for it.
- You don't want a large bill up front. The build is free and the first month is $0.
What to know before choosing ObraUp
- The design is ours. Your content, logo and domain stay yours, but the site's underlying design and code stay with Obra Tech LLC if you cancel. With a builder, you keep building on your own account.
- Major changes cost extra. Redesigns, new pages and new features are quoted separately.
- No SEO service. ObraUp builds sites with sound technical basics but doesn't sell search engine optimization or promise rankings.
Questions people ask
Is Squarespace or Wix good for contractors?
Both can produce a good contractor site if you put in the work: choose a template, write your services, add your license number, set up a quote form and keep it current. ObraUp exists for contractors who'd rather have that done for them.
Can I move from Wix or Squarespace to ObraUp?
Yes. Send us your text, photos and logo, and we set them up in the design you choose. On the Premium and Elite plans, the site can use a domain you already own.
Can I edit my ObraUp site myself?
Yes. Every plan includes self-serve edits. Premium includes one edit a month done for you, and Elite includes two.
