Questions
Asked on most site walks.
Do UV lights work?
On a coil, modestly. For smoke and pollen a MERV 13 media filter does far more. We say so.
Will a thicker filter hurt the system?
A 1-inch MERV 13 can. A 4-inch cabinet has four times the surface area and keeps airflow where it should be.
What do you do in smoke season?
Media filter, recirculate mode on the thermostat, and a portable unit for the bedroom if you want belt and braces.
