Rewiring and remodel circuits

Cloth-insulated wire, ungrounded outlets and aluminum branch circuits are common in pre-1975 Sunnyvale homes. We rewire room by room with minimal opening, bring every outlet to grounded, AFCI-protected copper and coordinate with your remodel crew so walls are only opened once.

Questions we get on this job.

Do you have to open every wall?

No. Most runs go through the attic or crawlspace and drop down inside the wall. We open small holes at boxes and at fire blocks, and we mark every one for the painter.

Can we live in the house during a rewire?

Yes. We work one zone at a time and restore power to the rest of the house every evening.

What about aluminum wiring?

We either replace it or pigtail every termination with listed AlumiConn connectors. Insurance companies accept both; we recommend replacement where walls are open anyway.
