Services
How we can help with your home’s electrical work.
Residential only, permitted every time. Time on site is what we tell customers on the phone; the exact number comes after a site visit.
-
01
Panel upgrades
100 A and 125 A panels replaced with 200 A service: new main, new breakers, grounding brought to current code, PG&E coordination and the city final.
-
02
EV chargers
Level 2 chargers such as the Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint and Emporia, or a NEMA 14-50 outlet, on a dedicated 40–60 A circuit. A load calculation comes first so we know the panel can take it.
-
03
Rewiring
Knob-and-tube and aluminum branch circuits replaced room by room or whole-house, with AFCI and GFCI protection where the code now asks for it. Walls patched, paint-ready.
-
04
Lighting
Recessed LED layouts, under-cabinet strips, pendants over the island, dimmers matched to the lamps so they don't flicker, and low-voltage path lighting outside.
-
05
Troubleshooting
Tripping breakers, dead outlets, flickering, a warm switch plate. We find the cause with a tester and a thermal camera, not a guess, and write it down before we fix it.
Not us: solar arrays, commercial tenant improvements, AV racks. We'll give you the name of someone good.
Spec sheet · Panel upgrade
What a panel upgrade involves.
Most Sunnyvale houses built before 1990 have 100 A service. One induction range, one heat pump and one EV later, that panel is full. Here is the whole job, with the same wall photographed eight times.

1
Load calculation and PG&E application
We add up what's in the house now and what you're planning, then file the service-change request with PG&E and pull the City of Sunnyvale permit. This is the paperwork week; nothing on the wall changes yet.
-
2
Swap day
PG&E pulls the meter in the morning. We remove the old can, set the new 200 A panel, land every circuit on a new breaker and bond the grounding. Power is off for about six hours; the fridge is fine.
-
3
Inspection and label
The city inspector signs off, PG&E re-seals the meter, and every breaker gets a printed label. You get the permit card and the panel schedule by email the same week.

What the neighbors say.
★★★★★"Panel swap started at eight, lights back on by 2:30, inspector came Thursday. Exactly what they said on the phone."
★★★★★"Found the loose neutral the last guy missed in about twenty minutes. Showed me on the thermal camera."
★★★★★"They did the load calc before selling us a charger. Turned out we didn't need the bigger panel after all."

Questions we're asked a lot
Before you call.
Do I need a permit for an EV charger?
Yes, in Sunnyvale and every neighboring city. A Level 2 charger is a new 240 V circuit, so it gets a permit and a final inspection. We pull it, we meet the inspector, and the permit fee is its own line on the bid.
How long is the power off during a panel upgrade?
About six hours, from the time PG&E pulls the meter to the time we energize the new panel. We schedule the pull for first thing in the morning. A closed fridge holds temperature for that long; we'll tell you the night before if anything changes.
Will PG&E need to come out?
For a service change, yes. They disconnect at the meter in the morning and re-seal it after the city inspection. We file the request and coordinate both visits. For a charger or a rewire on an existing panel, PG&E isn't involved.
Do you work on knob-and-tube?
We replace it; we don't extend it. If your house has knob-and-tube in the attic, we'll show you where it is, tell you which circuits still run on it, and give you a room-by-room plan. Insurers in Santa Clara County increasingly ask for this to be gone.
How soon can you come?
Call to check availability for urgent or planned work. Panel-upgrade schedules depend on the scope, permits and utility coordination; we discuss those steps before booking.
