Start with the right questions.
Surface cleaning, repairs and primer choices should be described in the proposal. Different substrates need different preparation; existing coatings also affect the approach.
Put the details in the plan.
Ask what will be protected, what gets removed and which repairs are included. A documented sample area is useful before a full room is coated.
Bring it to the site walk.
Bring photographs, a list of what is not working today and any constraints on access or timing. The aim of the first visit is to turn those observations into a scope you can understand.
