Start with the right questions.
Ask to see the base preparation, forms, reinforcement and drainage plan before placement. Finished elevations need to work with the house, the pavement and neighboring ground.
Put the details in the plan.
The written scope should explain intended use, mix specification, joint layout and curing protection. Project requirements determine those choices.
Bring it to the site walk.
Bring photographs, a list of what is not working today and any constraints on access or timing. The aim of the first visit is to turn those observations into a scope you can understand.
